Muqeem handles Iqama (residency) issuance and renewal, exit/re-entry visas and dependent transactions. We process expatriate residency actions for your team.
How establishments use Muqeem
Muqeem is an e-services portal for establishments provided under the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), part of the Ministry of Interior. Beyond the core residency transactions, businesses typically use it to:
- Issue final exit visas and cancel visas that will not be used.
- Update employees’ passport information after a passport is renewed.
- Track iqama and visa expiry dates through reports and alerts.
- Print reports on the establishment’s expatriate workforce for internal or official use.
Getting access and common issues
An establishment subscribes to Muqeem through the portal using its file with Jawazat and a valid commercial registration. The subscription is paid, and its fee is set by the platform and may change, so check it on the official site. Once the account is active, the owner adds authorised users for the HR or government relations team.
Transactions are often blocked for reasons outside Muqeem itself:
- The work permit has not been renewed in Qiwa, so the iqama cannot be renewed.
- The employee’s health insurance is not valid.
- Fees or violations are outstanding on the employee or the establishment.
- The passport has expired or the passport data does not match.
- Restrictions linked to the establishment’s status with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD).
Muqeem is run by its government owner and not by Innovant, which can help prepare transactions and follow up blocked ones with the relevant authority.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Muqeem and Absher Business?
Both offer residency-related services to establishments under the Ministry of Interior. Many companies use one or both depending on the services and reports they need; check each platform for its current service list.
Can a company see all its employees’ iqama expiry dates in one place?
Yes. Muqeem provides reports that list the establishment’s expatriate employees with their iqama and visa status, which helps plan renewals early.
Why can’t an iqama be renewed in Muqeem?
Usually because a linked requirement is missing, such as a renewed work permit in Qiwa, valid health insurance or settled fees. Resolve the linked issue first, then try the renewal again.
Who should have access to the Muqeem account?
Only authorised staff, each with their own user account, so that actions are traceable and access can be removed when someone leaves the company.
